Extras
This is the first time we have run this particular system and though we have tried other similar ones in the past, I think this one is the best we have come up with. The idea is to give extra incentive to bowl well and get the other important aspects of the game right also.
How can you win a prize at the end of the season?
- Only games bowled in the league count, you have to be well turned out for tournaments and these have plenty of their own incentives. You will see that the number in the games column is the same as the number of games you bowled in the league.
- Depending on your age grouping we give you a target for frame closing. This is explained on the score sheet but here are the numbers;
- If you are a Graduate that is over 16 now we would like to see you close 24 frames or more in your series. I know it is tough thats at least 8 per game, if you close 24 that's 1 point and there is another point for every frame over 24. A clean series would give you 7 points.
- Seniors that is over 14 we would like to see you close 21, 7 per game still tough there is 1 point for 21 and more for over 21 a clean series would be worth 10 points.
- Intermediates that is over 12, try and close 18, 6 per game. 1 point for 18 and 13 for a clean series.
- Juniors over 10 close 15. 1 point for 15, 16 for a clean series.
- Bantams over 8 close 12 thats 4 per game.
- Peewees under 8 close 9 thats 3 per game.
- The two main things to remember are try to close all your frames and make sure the numbers are entered on the special part of the score sheet. No numbers no points.
- Strike runs this is where our big bowlers can get big points, I would hope that any of you will probably get a strike each week that will score you a point. If you can string them together in a run there is a point for each strike.
- You all have a target average and every time you bowl a game higher than the target average you are making sure you stay above it. We will give you a point for every over target game, talk about your target with club staff it can be adjusted and though it should stretch you a little it needs to be realistic. We are aiming for you to reach a high average when you are too old for Junior league and move on to the adult game.
- Turnout, these are the easiest points of all you can score 3 each week;
- 1 for turning out in correct trousers, shorts, skirts or skorts.
- 1 for turning out in a bowling shirt.
- 1 for matching up with your team mate.
You will see below the winner will have the highest percentage, there is no advantage in bowling more or less games than other league bowlers. Also you will see that 2 is a good score so you are looking for 2 or more points per game, you can get 1 per game for your turnout. Bowling over your target average can get you another 3, just 1 strike and there's another point. Get closing those frames and you could be the winner next league.
