Big Wins but Three Big Losses
The final week of the Strikers YBC trios league, saw all teams having full line ups which is the first time it’s happened in the league. Team Number 1 played second place Spawn of Nemesis some good scoring by Team Number 1 ensured a decent victory of 52 points to12 which also made them triumphant winners of the league. On lanes 3-4 the Wolfpack entertained Team Number 6 all six bowlers played within their averages which should have meant a close match but that wasn’t the case as Wolfpack came out winners scoring 52 points to 12. Lanes 5-6 saw the two teams who have struggled all league, as they have not been able to secure people to bowl each week. Team Number 5 and Team Number 2 battled it out to see if they could regain some pride, all players doing so, Team Number 2 came out tops winning 48 points to 16. So the league positions ended up 1st Team Number 1 on 314 points 2nd Wolfpack on 249 points 3rd Spawn of Nemesis on 230 points 4th Team Number 6 on 202 points 5th Team Number 2 on 174 points and in 6th Team Number 5 on 157 points.

South of England Open Success for Ed
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 14 since my last report, we have also had a very successful trip to the South of England Junior open at Dunstable. Eleven bowlers made the trip, more than half of them increasing their personal best scores at the tournament. Kazia Terry moved on to 76 game 208 series, Sasha Bruce to 298 series, Graham Allen on to 181 game, Ben Howes to 369 series, Ed Benton to 463 series and Oliver Terry 99 game 265 series. Four of our bowlers featured on the leader boards after the days play Ed and Ben first and second in the Bantam singles and together top of the doubles. Sasha Bruce and Hannah Lambert top of the handicap intermediate girls doubles. The tournament runs for four weekends with hundreds of junior bowlers taking part each weekend, there are two more weekends to go so we will have to see how many of our bowlers hang on to the end. Realistically Ed stands the best chance having put together a really good performance in the Bantam singles, you can check on our bowlers at www.SOEJunioropen.co.uk.
Team Elf occupy the top position in the league on 176 points followed by Turkeys on 169 then Aylsham Spinners 166, Strike Force 163, The 6 pack 163, Star Bowlers 156, Nemesis 149 and Little Legends 100. The league is only half way through so anything can happen yet.
Stephen Pointer has been selected to represent Norfolk under 18 boys and we wish him every success both in his county team training and later when he represents Norfolk.
We still have space for more new bowlers if you are interested in joining us drop in on a Saturday morning, give me a call on 01603 278013, or e-mail kevstrikersybc@aol.com. Or check out our website at www.strikersybc.com.

Stephen Strikes On
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 11 since my last report, I have less time to write reports now so I will be writing every three weeks. I will give a brief break down on how the eight teams have fared starting with the current leaders and working my way down the league. At the week 11 stage Stephen Pointer’s “The 6 pack are top on 155 points following wins over 16-8 over “Nemesis” and 24-0 over “Star Bowlers”. Kyle Davies had his first run of 5 strikes in a row against the “stars”, Turkeys last seasons winners have moved up to 2nd with 145 points following a 14-10 win over “Team Elf” and a 22-2 win over “Little Legends” Michael Ellis again increased his personal best game to 196 and his series to 487. “Strike Force slip down to 3rd on 143 points after loosing 8-16 against the “stars” and 10-14 against “Nemesis”, Callum Butler increased his personal best series to 316 but this was not enough to stop the slide down the table. “Star Bowlers” also slip down to 4th their games been the win and crushing loss mentioned above they have 135 points. “Team Elf are 5th on 126 their earlier mentioned defeat and 14-10 win over “Aylsham Spinners” holding them in this mid table position. “Spinners” hold in 6th on 122 points after the above loss their week 10 game against “Legends” is still to be played. “Nemesis” remain in 7th on 118 points after their mixed bag of results and “Legends” remain bottom although with a game in hand.
Three of our bowlers tried out for the County team Stephen Pointer having a terrific day and giving himself an excellent chance of selection to represent Norfolk.

Big Win for Little Legends
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 8 this Saturday. Some of the teams scored large point victories to move them up the table. The first match saw Ed Benton’s “Little Legends” get their first win and it was a really good one 22 points to 2 against “The 6 Pack”. Kazia Terry provided good support for Ed with a new personal best game, the result was not enough to get Legends off the bottom of the table, they have 72 points. 6 pack remain in 2nd with 103. The second game was closer “Strike Force” beating “Team Elf” 14 points to 10, Elf slip down to 7th on 88 points and Force go top on 109. The game saw some good play from Ryan Heywood for Force and Rob Moulton rolled a new personal best game. The third game and the whitewash brush was out “Aylsham Spinners” beating “Star Bowlers” 24 points to 0, Alex and Matty Major played for Spinners to move them up to 5th on 96 points. Stars loose their top spot and are now 3rd on 103. The last game and another big result “Turkeys” 22 “Nemesis” 0 there were 2 unearned points Nemesis only having Dan Cooper available to play. Joe Wilkes and Michael Ellis were on fire Michael rolling a new personal best game of 192.
On the tournament front the county trials are on the Saturday 18th and Sunday 26th November, entry forms are in the bowl and we would like lots of our bowlers to try out for the county. The week after the trials we have our own adult junior scotch doubles tournament, other clubs have been invited to take part and entries are starting to come in. First Deuce for Dan
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 7 this Saturday. Play is still close apart from one notable exception. The first match between “Aylsham Spinners” and “Strike Force” saw Spinners start strongly Dan Murphy rolling his first deuce game a 210. John Boyson bowling alone recovered to win the other two games and split his individual points, the final score 12 points to 8 for Spinners 4 points going unearned. Force move up one place to 3rd on 95 and Spinners slip down to 7th on 72. The second game and the points were split 12 to 12 between “The 6 pack” and “Turkeys”. No change in their league positions in a game with no especially good play from four experienced junior bowlers. In the third game “Nemesis” took a crushing defeat from the new boys of “Team Elf”, 22 points to 2. Both Rob Moulton and Greame Hinton rolled new personal best games for Elf during this match, Elf move up to 6th on 78 points and Nemesis slip down to 4th on 90. The last game was another close one “Little Legends” just loosing out 10 points to 14 to “Star Bowlers” who hold onto top spot on 103 points. Kazia Terry made her debut for Legends scoring 6 individual points and rolling a new personal best game and series, in reply Lisa Evers bowled accurately for Stars to help them to the win.
On the tournament front the county trials are on the Saturday 18th and Sunday 26th November, entry forms are in the bowl and we would like lots of our bowlers to try out for the county. Top Four Teams
So Close
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 6 this Saturday. We returned to some tight play after last weeks big points wins. The first match between “Nemesis” and “Star Bowlers”, Dan Cooper piled on the pressure for Nemesis and Stars were only saved from a worse defeat by an excellent personal best series for Sasha Bruce. Nemesis took 18 points moving them up to third place on 88 points Stars stay top with 89. The second game was a close 14 points to 10 between the two bottom teams “Team Elf” and “Little Legends”, Elf taking the win their positions stay unchanged Elf on 56 points and Legends on 40. Elf’s win was due to new personal best game and series for Will Moulton, Ben Howes played very well for Legends. The third game and “Turkeys” seem to be putting together a comeback, beating “Aylsham Spinners” 17 points to 7. To be fair to Spinners they only had Alex Major alone who managed a creditable 7 points against a determined attack from Peter Wilkes team. Turkeys move up to 5th on 67 points while Spinners sink to 6th on 60. The last game and another close one “Strike Force” winning 14 points to 10 over “The 6 Pack”. The man of this match had to be Stuart Hook who took all his points to secure the win for the Force, Stephen Pointer was solid for Pack to hold their 2nd place league position tied on 89 points with the league leaders. Force moved down to 4th but with 87 points they are still in excellent shape. There are 20 points between 4th and 5th places, only 2 points divide all the top four teams and interestingly next weeks games see the bottom four teams play the top four an excellent opportunity for the bottom four to close the gap.

Big Wins
Shake up League
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 5 this Saturday. It was a change from last week featuring some really big point’s wins. The first match between “Strike Force” and “Turkeys” ran out 20 points to 4 for the Force, some excellent bowling from Ryan Heywood ably supported by Callum Butler means another setback for last seasons champions, who slide down to 6th, the Force remain in 3rd on 73 points.
The second game was closer between “Aylsham Spinners” and “The 6 Pack”, the pack winning 15 points to 9. The main battle was between Daniel Murphy and Stephen Pointer who tied their overall scores both on 520, even though the result was in pack’s favour they moved down to 2nd on 79 points and spinners moved up to 5th on 53. The third game and Graham Allen is a man on a mission with his three girls, this week supported by Lisa Evers he destroyed “Team Elf” 24 points to 0. Elf remains in 7th place on 42 points as “Star Bowlers” go top on 83. One little ray of sunshine for Elf was a new personal best series of 255 for Charlie Darter. The last game and still the “Little Legends” suffer, this week beaten 22 points to 2 by “Nemesis”. Nemesis used a new line up of Steven Bush and Daniel Cooper, both were in fine form rolling really well. Kazia Terry is to join legends perhaps she can help them turn things around, nemesis are still 4th now with 70 points.

Girl Power
Moves Stars Up
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 4 this Saturday. The first match was a top of the table clash between “The 6 Pack” and “Star Bowlers”. A close game stars winning 14 points to 10, not enough to get them to the top but they have closed the gap to just 5 points. 6 pack are top with 64 Stars have 59; the main reason for their win was a really solid performance from Hannah Lambert. Stephen Pointer rolled well for 6 pack but his 500 scratch series was not enough to stem the tide.
The second game was another close one “Nemesis” who had a full compliment this week beating “Strike Force” 14 points to 10. Adam Mills looks to be returning to form for Nemesis and even though little Stuart Hook was on fire for Force, Nemesis took the win moving them up to 4th place on 48 points. Force remains in 3rd on 53, the third game and another close 14 for “Turkeys” 10 for “Little Legends” game. Ed Benton bowled well for Legends but they are still supporting the rest of the league with 28 points, Joe Wilkes was steady for Turkeys and was the main reason for their narrow victory which moved them up to 5th place on 46 points. The final game saw the biggest points win “Team Elf” beating “Aylsham Spinners” 16 points to 8, Rob Moulton had new personal bests in game and series for Elf and Matty Major did the work to hold 8 points for Spinners. Spinners are 6th on 44 and Elf 7th on 42. Kazia Terry rolled a 54 game to get her first badge during the coaching session, I expect she will be signed by one of the teams soon.

Striking Entertainment
From Graham and John
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 3 this Saturday. The first match saw “Little Legends” play “Aylsham Spinners”. Another win for Spinners continues their good run and keeps Legends stuck on the bottom. Spinners win was mainly due to some high scoring by Alex Major and although Ed Benton’s Legends fought back in the last game it was too late to stop them loosing 16 points to 8, Spinners move up to fourth place on 36 points. The next game saw a revival for the “Turkeys” in their game against “Team Elf”, they recorded their first win this league 18 points to 6. Rob and Will Moulton made their league debuts for Elf and did recover to win the last game, Turkeys are 6th on 32 and Elf 7th on 26. The third game was a cracker between “Strike Force” and “Star Bowlers”, Stars just winning 13 points to 11 the two team captains Graham Allen and John Boyson fighting it out pin for pin. Stars are 2nd on 45 points and the Force are 3rd on 43. In the fourth and final game of the day “Nemesis played “The 6 Pack”, Nemesis still have injury problems and only had one bowler again. Chris Cotton managed to split the individual points with Stephen Pointer but still lost 20 points to 4, 6 pack are top with 54 points and Nemesis 5th on 34. We have new bowlers learning the game in order to join the league Amy Matthews and Kazia Terry, Kazia only just missed out on getting her first badge when she bowled a 49 game this week.

Tight Play at Strikers
6 Pack Go Top
The Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league moved to week 2 this Saturday. The first match saw “The 6 pack” play the new team now christened “Team Elf”. We saw some very close play during which Greame Hinton rolled new personal bests for Elf and Kyle Davies rolled his first competition 200 game for 6 pack, it finished 14 to 10 for 6 pack putting them top of the league on 34 points. Elf are 5th with 20 the second game was “Little Legends” v “Strike Force”, injury problems lead to Ben Mills playing alone for legends. He played well but still went down 18 points to 6 mainly due to a solid performance by Callam Butler for the force. Force go to 3rd on 32 points and Legends hit the bottom with 10 points. The third game “Nemesis” v “Aylsham Spinners”, again a lone bowler Chris Cotton for Nemesis 520 scratch got him 10 points, Dan Murphy countering with 512 scratch a new personal best to get spinners the win. Nemesis are 4th on 30 points and spinners are 6th on 20. The last game saw “Turkeys” loose again although narrowly 10 points to 14 to the girl power of Sasha Bruce and Lisa Evers for “Star Bowlers”. Turkeys are down in 7th with 14 points and Stars are 2nd on 32, we are seeing some terrific close action strong teams been forced down the league. There are a lot of twists, turns and surprises to come.

Nemesis
Off to a good start
The new Striker’s YBC (North Walsham) league got started this Saturday. This will be our long winter league where our bowler’s can establish averages for possible county or country selection. The first game was between “Turkeys” (last seasons winners) and “Nemesis” (last seasons runners up as Strikes first). Nemesis set a blistering pace putting Turkeys on the back foot, Chris Cotton played Peter Wilkes Peter having to pull out a 201 scratch game, to salvage the last game to take 4 points leaving Nemesis with 20 and the top spot after week 1. In the second game “Star Bowlers” played “Aylsham Spinners”, Stars winning 18 points to 6 Graham Allen doing most of the damage with a good solid performance, putting them into third position. The third game saw “Little Legends” take on “The Six Pack” (Artillery Bombardment last season glad they have chosen a shorter name this time). Legends rolled well Ed Benton scoring a scratch 176 but 6 pack were strong especially Stephen Pointer with a 509 scratch series and won 20 points to 4 putting them in second place. The last game saw “Strike Force” (last seasons 8 team) have a very close encounter with our “New Team” (that’s what we are calling them until they come up with a name), it ran out 14 points to 10 for Strike force John Boyson’s 172 scratch game making the small difference putting these two teams in fourth and fifth positions. We welcome our new team of Charlie Darter, Graham Hinton, Rob and Will Moulton and wish them every success.

First Striker’s league completed
First I will report on the final week of the Striker’s youth tenpin bowling club league, played last weekend. The first game was played in an evening slot and was between “The 8 team” and “Aylsham Spinner’s, spinners scored a resounding win 22 points to 2. This has moved them well up the league. The “Little Legends” took on “Star Bowler’s” winning 14 points to 8 (there are a couple of unearned points here as Graham Allen had to play alone). “Artillery Bombardment” were unlucky when transport problems stopped them getting any bowlers to their game. This left “Strikes first questions later” to bowl against their own averages and take 20 points. Turkey’s bowled against their own averages as they played the empty team of “Robyn’s raiders” taking 16 points. There was still the crucial week 13 game between “Strikes first” and “Turkeys”, the presentation day was held to the 9th September so this game was played on the 2nd. It was hard fought ending in a 12 to 12 draw. I will report on the final standings and who won what next week after the presentation, as well as the league ending the new national season has just started. There are a number of awards that have been running throughout the year that we will take care of on Saturday.
The presentation delay to 9th September means the new league will start the following week, we will be sorting out teams before and after Saturdays presentation. Teams consist of up to five bowler’s two of them bowling in the league each week. If our numbers do not increase we will probably reduce to six teams for the next league, we would prefer ten so we will have space for four new teams. Our new league will run through the winter well into next year, so if you want to be in from the start see you Saturday.
If you are interested in joining us drop in on a Saturday morning, give me a call on 01603 278013, or e-mail kevstrikersybc@aol.com. Bombardment put brakes on Turkeys
A high scoring week for the Striker’s youth tenpin bowling club league as they move to week twelve. We ran a full week 12 programme the first game saw a rare appearance for the whitewash brush “Little Legends” taking all the points against “The 8 team “. This made no change to their league positions they are still 6th and 7th respectively but it does bring legends up to 137 points only 1 behind “Aylsham Spinners”. The second game saw “Star Bowler’s beat the spinners 20 points to 4, this keeps them in 2nd place on 157 points. The third game saw “Strikes first” play the empty team of “Robyn’s Raiders” taking 22 points against their own averages. The last game of the day was a gripping encounter between “Artillery Bombardment and “Turkeys” some fine bowling from “Bombardment” saw them beat the “Turkeys” 22 points to 2. To be fair “Turkeys” were not bowling to their usual standard and crumbled as “Bombardment” piled on the pressure. This brings “Turkeys” lead down to 32 points and leaves “Bombardment” and “Strikes first” tied in third place on 153 points. “Strikes first” play “Turkeys” next week if they can pull off a win it could leave us with very close standings for the last week of the league.
The presentation for this league is scheduled for 2nd September and we will start another the following week. Teams consist of up to five bowler’s two of them bowling in the league each week. If our numbers do not increase we will probably reduce to six teams for the next league, we would prefer ten so we will have space for four new teams.

Star Bowler’s move up but Turkeys look out of reach
Another busy if low scoring week for the Striker’s youth tenpin bowling club league as they move to week eleven. ‘Turkeys’ played their game with ’Aylsham Spinner’s’ early on the Tuesday evening. They had another convincing win 22 points to 2 putting them 50 points clear at the top of the league. During Saturday’s session ’Star Bowler’s and ’The ’8’ team played their previously postponed game from week 6. No big scores and nearly a draw the ’8’ winning 14 points to 10. The first of the other three week 11 games saw ‘Artillery Bombardment’ draw with ‘Star Bowler’s 8 points to 8 (8 points went unearned because Bombardment only had one bowler). In the second game The ’8’ team played the empty space of Robyn’s raiders taking 12 points bowling against their own averages. In the final game of the day ’Little Legends’ took on ’Strikes first, questions later’, Legends won 16 points to 8. ‘Turkeys’ are building a commanding lead but the rest of the league is still very finely balanced with only three weeks to go. 2nd ’Star Bowler’s 137, 3rd ’Aylsham Spinner’s’ 134, 4th ‘Arty Bombardment’ and ’Strikes first both on 131 points. ‘Legends’ and ’The 8’ still have time to make up ground been on 113 and 86 points respectively.
The presentation for this league is scheduled for 2nd September and we will start another the following week. Teams consist of up to five bowler’s two of them bowling in the league each week. Another ‘Clean game’
(all frames closed) for Chris
Another busy and exciting week for the Striker’s youth tenpin bowlers as they move to week ten. The first game featured the seemingly unstoppable ‘Turkeys’ who beat the ‘Little Legends’ 19 points to 5. Peter Wilkes rolled a scratch game of 216 including 6 strikes in a row, which went towards a 554 scratch series. In reply for Legends Billy Miles improved his personal best game score to 97. ‘Aylsham Spinner’s’ played ’Strikes first, questions later’, this was a close game strikes first running out winners 14 points to 10. Chris Cotton again rolled a clean game for strikes first. Another close game between ’Artillery Bombardment’ and ‘The ’8’ team, this one was a 14 points to 10 win for the ’8’ following another solid performance from John Boyson who equalled his PB game of 179, we welcome Charlie Darter who joined Bombardment. The final week 10 game was between ’Star Bowler’s’ and the empty ’Robyn’s raiders’ stars took 20 points playing against their own averages. We had a pre-bowl match for week 13 played between spinners and legends featuring new PB’s of 163 game 323 series including 3 strikes in a row for Alex Major. This won him 3 new achievement badges so some sewing to be done. Not much movement in the league standings, 1st ‘Turkeys’ 165 points, 2nd ’Spinners’ 132, 3rd ’Bombardment’ 123, 4th ’Strikes first also 123, 5th ’Star Bowlers’ 109, 6th ’Legends’ 103, 7th ‘8 team’ 64 and 8th ’raider’s’ 35. Four weeks left to run means 96 points still up for grabs.
We are starting to see some high scores and a trickle of new members, we still need more but the future is looking pretty good. If you are interested in joining us drop in on a Saturday morning, give me a call on 01603 278013, or e-mail kevstrikersybc@aol.com. We also have a short presentation on CD which you can watch on your computer and will tell you all about us.

Looking for something new to do?
Striker’s YBC need new bowlers for the new season
A busy week for the Striker’s youth tenpin bowling club league as they move to week nine and catch up a back game from week six. The previously postponed week 6 game was between Aylsham Spinners and Little Legends, it resulted in a 20 points to 4 win for the Spinner’s both Dan Murphy and Matty Major rolled personal best games and series. Dan 191 game 508 series and Matty 156 game 380 series, in reply for Legends Ben Howes also beat his PB’s with a 164 game and a 363 series. The first of the week nine games also featured Dan and Matty who took another 18 points bowling against the now empty team of Robyn’s raiders so six points went unearned. In the second week 9 game Artillery Bombardment played the Little Legends this time Legends won 14 points to 10, Ben Howes bowling with Billy Miles who had a new PB game of 91 and series of 249. No PB’s for Bombardment although Stephen Pointer did entertain us with a 212 scratch game containing a run of 5 strikes. The third game saw Star Bowler’s play Turkey’s and again we had new personal bests Sasha Bruce with a 107 game 255 series, the Wilkes brothers still won comfortably 22 points to 2 both rolling “turkeys” during their series. Unfortunately The ’8’ team were a ’no show’ for their game against Strikes first, questions later who managed 20 points (4 unearned) against the empty space. Chris Cottons first game was what we call a ’clean game’ that is he closed all 10 frames with either strikes or spares. Turkey’s head the league on 146 points, now followed by Aylsham Spinner’s 122 points who move up from fourth. Bombardment 113 points are third moving down one place and in fourth are Strikes first, questions after 109 points also pushed down one place. Little Legends 98 points move up one to fifth changing places with Star Bowler’s 89 points. The ’8’ team remain in seventh place with 50 points and Robyn’s raiders have 35 points. A lot of new personal bests this week show the level of improvement among our bowler’s, the league still has five more weeks to run and with 24 points at stake each match it is still far from decided. The new national season starts in September and we held our AGM Saturday electing a committee to take us into what we hope will be another successful time.
This is the time to get involved with this years season drawing to a close, you don’t have to be experienced or ‘good’ learning a new skill is a major part of the club so why not come along and give it a go everyone is welcome! If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013, or e-mail kevstrikersybc@aol.com. We also have a short presentation on CD which you can watch on your computer and will tell you all about us.

Striker’s Junior Scratch Tour team start well but fold under pressure
The Striker’s youth tenpin bowling club league moved to week eight last Saturday. More about that later first the Junior Scratch Tour. Our boys team left early for a day of bowling at the 48 lane AMF Nottingham bowl. Twelve teams from around the UK took part in Saturday’s final and were drawn into two groups of six, each team played a 2 game match against all of the others in their group, this phase was rounded off with a position match for more points to see who would progress to the knock out stages. Games are ’Baker’ system where all five bowlers play the same game each rolling two frames, our first match was against Cleethorpes and was a convincing win 185 to 144 first 2 points in the bag. Cleethorpes recovered coming back to beat us in the second game 191 to 155, 2 points dropped there are a further 2 points for the highest pinfall which we took 340 to 335, four points in the bag a good start. Next came the boys from Valley who for some reason kept singing about sheep, we lost the first game 160 to 157. A close first game then our turn to come back a 183 to 145 win and the 2 pinfall points for 340 to 305 another 4 points bringing our total to 8. Aylesbury next who beat us 155 to 121 then 212 to 158 pinfall 367 to 279, 6 points dropped. Bromborough first game to them 177 to 139 second game to us 156 to 119 pinfall 296 to 295 for them aaargh so close, another 2 points but we only had 10 from a possible 24 and were in trouble. Last a team from our own qualifying round group Norwich club bowl first game we win 142 to 136, second game we loose 158 to 141 pinfall 294-283 to them only 2 more points. A miracle in the position round is needed to save us and we get Cleethorpes who score 173, 175, 348 to our 95, 124, 219 that will be us on our way home then. The whole JST thing starts again in September, first our bowlers must attain a high position on our club ranking list to get in the team, then comes the four local qualifying rounds, followed by the finals again perhaps next year we can make it to the knock out stages.
All league games were played albeit with two rollovers and a team with only one bowler. Turkey’s remain top on 124 points following some fine Sister and Brother bowling from Frances and Michael Ellis, the only bright spot for The ‘8’ team was a 127 PB game from Ryan Heywood. Artillery Bombardment stay in second despite loosing 16 points to 8 to Aylsham Spinner’s who moved up a place to fourth a new PB series of 449 containing a 172 PB game for Stephen Bush helped them to this win. The other two games were rollover’s where bowlers play against their own averages Star Bowlers managed 20 points which moved them up a place to 5th, but Little Legends only managed 4 which dropped them two places to 6th.
One of our main problems is that we lack strength in depth, this is a great time to get involved with this years season drawing to a close, you don’t have to be experienced or ‘good’ learning a new skill is a major part of the club so why not come along and give it a go everyone is welcome! If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013, or e-mail kevstrikersybc@aol.com.

Personal Best Fest at Aylesbury
The Striker’s youth tenpin bowling club North Walsham league moved to the half way point of week seven last Saturday. More about that later first some news about our bowlers who travelled to Aylesbury for the Junior Classified Doubles, all bowlers keep their personal best scores at the back of their mind and are always looking to advance these figures. Four of our bowlers managed to increase theirs at Aylesbury; Dan Murphy rolled a new PB game of 182 and a new PB series (total over three games) of 500. Matthew Major new PB game 141 and series 350, Alex Major new PB series 313 and Kyle Davies 199 PB game so close to his first deuce. Final results have not been published yet will let you know if anyone was placed, they certainly were a credit to the club and did very well.
So the league, it would benefit from more bowlers those who are in having to fight hard to gain points. In top spot on 102 points are Turkeys they played Robin’s raiders a team which has no bowlers now, I expect you are wondering how that works you would think it would be an easy option but it is not. When a team have to play what we call a “no show” they play to bowl within ten pins of their own average scores, if they are not within ten nobody gets the points they are called “unearned points”. Turkeys managed 6 of a possible 24 points, second spot on 95 points are Artillery Bombardment who played third spot Strikes first, questions later. Strikes first won 16 points to 6 (the astute of you will notice 2 unearned points here also Bombardment only had one bowler), Strikes first are now third on 89 points. Little Legends moved up to fourth place with 77 points following a 15 to 7 win over Star bowlers (more unearned Legends only had Ben Howes, he still won though). Aylsham Spinners are fifth on 72 points after losing 6 to 16 to the ’8’ team, a good steady performance from John Boyson helped the ‘8’ to this win (2 more unearned John started alone). Star Bowlers are sixth with 66 points, the ’8’ team seventh with 46. Complicated isn’t it, certainly a game for the mentally agile, four of the teams have games in hand to catch up which will lead to more interesting complications.
We are off to the Junior Scratch Tour finals at the 48 lane AMF bowl Nottingham on Saturday the five representing Striker’s are Chris Cotton, Dan Cooper, Dan Murphy, Joe Wilkes and Peter Wilkes.
Full teams would make things simpler. If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013, or e-mail kevstrikersybc@aol.com

All Norfolk boys qualify for
Junior Scratch Tour finals
The Striker’s (North Walsham) youth tenpin bowling club league slipped quietly into week 6 last weekend. Quietly because the matches Aylsham Spinners v Little Legends and The ‘8’ team v Star bowlers were both postponed. We did have a match between Robyn’s raiders and Arty Bombardment although both teams only had one bowler. Stephen Pointer for Bombardment beat Robyn Kershaw 20 points to 4. This was Robyn’s last week with us as she moves to RAF Leeming this week, we wish her all the best and hope to see her on the circuit albeit in a Leeds YBC shirt. Strikes first, questions after took on Turkeys in a close but low scoring match, Strikes first won 17 points to 7 which means Bombardment move to within 7 points of the top spot Turkeys. Strikes first move up from 6th to 3rd place.
As I write this our bowlers at Aylesbury will be just getting underway so will tell you what happened in next weeks article. A particularly interesting piece of news is about the Junior Scratch Tour, even though our boy’s team finished last in the Norfolk qualifying group they have still received an invitation to take part in the finals. This is because the top teams from each group qualify then teams who have bowled high average scores are also invited to take part. Averages over 60 games for Norfolk were Norwich No10 YBC 172.16, Kings Lynn YBC 165.56, Norwich Club YBC 160.56 and our boys 160.60. This looks as though all the Boys from Norfolk have qualified for the final which says a great deal about the standard of youth bowling in this county.
We are still very keen to recruit new members. If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013.

New Bowlers start to make their mark.
Our crunch match between “Turkeys” and “Artillery Bombardment” who went into this week tied at the top of the league, Saw Bombardment receive a lot of incoming without sending much back. Loosing the match 22 points to 2, they hang on to second place 20 points behind the high flying “Turkeys”. “Aylsham Spinners” a team with a lot of new bowlers move up to third place only 3 points behind Bombardment following a 16 point to 8 victory over “Star Bowlers”. A personal best game from Matthew Major helped them win and send “Star Bowlers” from third down to fifth. The “Little Legends” are moving up the league like a rocket with another 22 to 2 point win, this weeks victims were “The 8 team” who they sent to the bottom of the league. They are up to fourth in the league 4 points behind the Spinners. “Strikes first, Questions after” a team with three really quality bowlers are in sixth place following a draw with the single handed “Robyn’s Raiders”, next week they play “Turkeys” perhaps we will see their true form. Another interesting one for next week will see the “Little Legends” take on the “Spinners” two teams which are both going well.
We are sending a team of 10 bowlers to the Jardines Club Junior Classified doubles at Aylsbury on Sunday, the entire “Spinners” squad is travelling along with some of our more experienced members. We wish them luck especially those who are having their first go at tournament bowling. I will keep you posted on how they do, it is also the first time out for our smart new shirts provided by our sponsor Victoria Carriages.
We are still very keen to recruit new members. If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013.

Big Weekend for Little Legends
This weekend 17th 18th June was a very busy and successful one for the “Little Legends”, consigned to the bottom of the league last week Ben Mills and Billy Miles decided it was time for some striking action. They beat “Strikes first, Questions later” 22 points to 2. Ben rolled a new personal best game of 158 and was ably supported by Billy. Last weeks leaders “Turkeys” won their game 15 points to 9 and “Artillery Bombardment” won theirs 16 points to 8. This sets up a very interesting encounter for next week when these two teams who both have 67 points clash. Although “Star Bowlers” and “Aylsham Spinners” both lost they still occupy 3rd and 4th places on 51 and 50 points and guess what they also play each other next week. “Little Legends” have lifted themselves from the bottom and now occupy 6th place on 40 points just 4 behind “Strikes first”.
The other two “Little Legends” Ed Benton and Ben Howes travelled to Hull to take part in the “Hull 707” Annual Peewee Singles Tournament. Both rolled well Ed was in 3rd position overall and Ben 6th when they left to drive home. Our photo this week shows Ed Benton and Ben Mills at Nottingham this year, These are two of our most successful young bowlers both are National Gold Medal holders. To win a medal at the Junior Nationals against top competition from all over the country is one of the most difficult thing to achieve in Junior Tenpin Bowling.
We are still very keen to recruit more new members. If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013, perhaps you are a potential Nationals medal winner.

Peter flies ‘Turkeys’ to league top spot
Saturday 10th July and the Striker’s YBC league crashes along to week 3, during week 2 ‘Turkeys’ had suffered a setback going down to third place. Obviously this was not part of their captain Peter Wilkes plan, so he made his debut for this league with a superb 518 scratch series. This along with good support from younger brother Joe put them back on top with 52 points. On the down side this did consign Little legends to the bottom, they are a plucky little bunch and I am sure we have not heard the last of them. Pushing hard in second place on 51 points are ‘Artillery bombardment’ following their 16 to 8 win over ‘The ’8’ team’, who had a great performance from one of our new bowlers Ryan Heywood with personal best games and series. ‘Star Bowlers’ moved up to third on 43 points following a 15-9 win over ‘Robyn’s raider’s’ Robyn is still soldiering on with no support and managed a creditable 9 points. It looks as though we have nobody at all for that team next week, so if anybody fancies some junior league bowling Saturday give me a call and you are straight into it. Our other game was ‘Aylsham spinners’ v ‘Strikes first, Questions after’. It started great for ‘Spinners’ with an Alex Major personal best game but they fell away to loose 16 points to 8. ‘Strikes first’ have 42 and ‘Spinners’ 41, so it is still close with a long way to go yet.
Other news no medals at the Nationals for us this year, also last weekend saw the last round of the Junior Scratch Tour, we could not field a girls team for this round but our boys bowed out with a great effort winning the round. Unfortunately their poor performance in the previous round means no place at the finals this year. Their team manager assures me they will be there next year. We are very keen to recruit more new members. If you are interested give me a call on 01603 278013
