Rules for 2007
- This tournament will we hope hold a moral support sanction from the BTBA, the general playing and tournament rules of the BTBA shall apply, together with the following special rules.
- Eligibility
- Adults must be over the age of 18 on the 1st September 2007.
- Juniors must be under the age of 18 on the 1st September 2007.
- Where the adult is not the juniors parent or guardian the consent form must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian of the junior bowler.
- Non BTBA members may take part, they will not however be entitled to any BTBA services.
- In order to allow the maximum number of junior bowlers to take part there are no restrictions on Strikers bowl staff or tournament officials competing.
- No person may play in this tournament except those originally entered or such replacements as authorised by the team captain and accepted by the tournament manager.
- Changes in team line-up must be notified at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled bowling times.
- Teams
- The tournament will be for teams of one adult and one junior bowler who will bowl three 2 game series of scotch doubles in the qualifying round and possible further 2 game series in the knock out rounds. Those who qualify for the round robin final will bowl eight single games, in all series or round robin games the junior bowler will deliver the first ball. After this the junior and adult bowlers will deliver single balls in turn.
- Bowling a strike will change the bowler who deliver's the first ball of a frame, as will a third ball in the tenth frame.
- Handicaps
- The tournament will be run on a handicap basis, handicaps been based 70% of the difference between a teams composite average and 200 with no upper limit and a lower limit of zero.
- The team composite average will be calculated by adding the two bowlers averages and then halving the resulting figure.
- Teams will enter using the entry form payment and proof of averages.
- Bowlers must declare their highest league or merit tournament average, whichever is the higher over a minimum of 12 games. If no league or tournament over 12 games exists, then the previous seasons highest league or merit tournament average must be declared. Teams where either bowler has no eligible average will have their handicap calculated based on their team average over the six games in the qualifying round. Teams are still required to send in proof that no eligible average exists in the form of a declaration from a club or bowl official.
- The tournament management committee reserve the right to re-rate any average or reject any entry. Their decision on all matters will be final subject to appeal to the BTBA.
- Entry Fees
- The entry fee will be £30.00p per team, £15.00p per bowler, it includes;
- £20.00p lineage to Strikers Bowl.
- £5.00p prize fund £100.00p to winning team adult bowler, remainder split 60% to 40% between 2nd and 3rd place adult bowlers.
- £2.50p trophy fund to provide trophies for all finalists.
- £1.00p contribution to Norfolk County BTBA
- 50p contribution to BTBA for team England fund.
- 50p contribution to NAYBC for national youth bowling.
- 50p contribution to Strikers YBC, expences for running tournament.
- There is an optional £5.00p scratch pot all of which will go to the adult member of the team bowling the highest scratch pinfall in the six games of the qualifying round.
- Disputes and Protests
- A provisional ball shall be rolled in case of any dispute relating to pinfall which cannot be resolved immediately.
- Protests must be lodged in writing to the tournament manager Kevin Baker within 24 hours of the game in which the fraction occured and prior to the presentations.
- The tournament management committees decisions on all matters shall be final, subject to appeal to the BTBA.
- Squad times, tie breaking, registration and closing date.
- Qualifying will be on Friday 30th November squad times 4pm and 6pm these are overflow squads. Main qualifying will be on Saturday 1st December squad times 10am, 12am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. Six teams per squad time. Finals day will be Sunday 2nd December squad times will be decided by qualifying round finishing positions. Ties for qualifying round positions or knock out rounds will be broken by higher positions been awarded to the team with the lower handicap, if still tied the team with the higher low game.
- Registration will be 30 minutes prior to scheduled bowling time. Tardy bowlers will be allowed to join at the frame in progress.
- Closing date for entries will be midnight Friday 2nd November, we must have at least 20 teams by that date for the tournament to go ahead. Late entries will be accepted provided squad times are still available.
- The tournament is limited to 42 teams early response is recommended.
- Additional rules.
- Smoking, gambling or consumption of alchohol by junior entrants will result in disqualification.
- Only tournament officials and players will be allowed in the approach area.
- All mobile phones and pagers are to be switched off, or put to silent operation.
